Lactobacillus plantarum

Lactobacillus plantarum is a friendly strain of bacteria which has an important role to stimulate the digestive system, fights off disease-causing bacteria and helps the body to produce vitamins.

Lactobacillus plantarum is a natural approach to controlling digestive issues and revving up the immune system. L. plantarum also has significant antioxidant activities and helps to maintain intestinal permeability. It is also able to suppress the growth of gas-producing bacteria in the intestines and helps stabilize digestive enzyme activity.

Food sources rich in Lactobacillus plantarum

Lactobacillus plantarum is commonly found in milk products, meat and a lot of vegetable fermentations including pickled cabbage, pickles, brined olives, sourdough and other fermented plant material. It can also be found in some cheeses, fermented sausages and stockfish.
